WHAT IS THE MAMANET

MAMANET is a team sport based on the volleyball rules with slight changes and modifications especially designed to engage women over 30 years old and mums into the sport practice done at regular basis.

  • The objective of the game for both teams is to pass the ball over the net into the opponent’s court surface while preventing the opponent’s effort to do the same.
  • Each team is allowed 3 touches (2 passes) for returning the ball to the opponent’s side. Players are allowed to hold the ball in their hands for up to one second.
  • The team winning scores a point. As long as the serving team wins, another ball is served by the same player. When the receiving team wins a point, it gains the right to serve, followed by its players rotating clockwise by one position.
  • The ball is put in play using a ‘service’ action and continues until the ball is either grounded on the opposite playing court, goes “out” or a team fails to return it properly to the opponent’s side.
  • The service act of putting the ball into the game is made by the back-right player behind the line of the court.
  • First team to reach 21 points (with a lead of 2 points) wins the set. The game is played until a team win 2 sets out of 3 in the game.
  • The third set is decisive and the game is played until one team will reach 15 point (with a lead of 2 points)
  • It is forbidden to hit or strike the ball as in volleyball and to touch the net at all times
